Privacy Policy
Your privacy is very important to us, and we are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains our data collection and handling practices for the CASA website, located at www.casa.com (“Site”). We understand that you should be in control of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains the manner in which we collect personal information from you and the purpose of that collection. This Privacy Policy is designed to ensure that you are aware of how your personal information is being used and to provide you with choices about that use. By visiting the Site or submitting your personal information, you accept the terms described in the Privacy Policy.
Our Student Privacy Pledge
We pledge to carry out responsible stewardship and appropriate use of student personal information gathered in our role as school service providers according to the commitments below and in adherence to all laws applicable to us as school service providers. Our privacy includes requirements posed by GDPR, California Assembly Bill 1584 (“AB 1584”), the California Education Code, the Children’s Online Privacy and Protection Act (“COPPA”), and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”).
They include:
Not collect, maintain, use or share student personal information beyond that needed for authorized school counseling purposes.
Not sell student personal information.
Not use or disclose student information collected through an educational/school service (whether personal information or otherwise) for behavioral targeting of advertisements to students.
Not build a personal profile of a student.
Not make material changes to school service provider consumer privacy policies without first providing prominent notice to the account holder(s); and not make material changes to other policies or practices governing the use of student personal information that are inconsistent with contractual requirements.
Not knowingly retaining student personal information beyond the time period required to support the authorized school counseling purposes.
Collect, use, share, and retain student personal information only for purposes for which we were authorized by the educational institution/agency, school counselor.
No identifiable student personal information will be shared with third parties.
Maintain a comprehensive security program that is reasonably designed to protect the security, privacy, confidentiality, and integrity of student personal information against risks – such as unauthorized access or use, or unintended or inappropriate disclosure – through the use of administrative, technological, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
Require that our vendors with whom student personal information is shared in order to deliver the educational service, if any, are obligated to implement these same commitments for the given student personal information.
Allow a successor entity to maintain the student personal information, in the case of our merger or acquisition by another entity, provided the successor entity is subject to these same commitments for the previously collected student personal information.
Information We Collect
On certain areas of our Site, we offer features where users may provide us with their personal information in order to subscribe to a newsletter, obtain more information about our products and services, participate in a survey, post comments on a blog post, contact us or otherwise voluntarily submit information to us. The information requested in order for us to deliver these features includes your first and last name, email address, and in some cases your school name and other information that you may choose to provide.
Additionally, as part of the standard operation of the Site, we may also collect certain “Site Usage Information.” Site Usage Information is non-personal information from you, including but not limited to your browser type, operating system, IP address, event documentation and the domain name from which you accessed the Site. It may also include information about your browsing behavior, such as the date and time you visit the Site, the areas or pages of the Site that you visit, the amount of time you spend viewing the Site, the number of times you return to the Site and other “click-stream” data. We do not combine this non-personal information with your personal information.
We use the Google Analytics tracking technologies to collect the Site Usage Information. By using our Site, you agree to our use of these tracking technologies.
How We Use Information
We may use the information we collect from and about you for any of the following purposes:
to fulfill your requests for products and services
to provide aggregate, non-personally identifiable school counseling related statistics
to contact you with our information and promotional materials
to contact you when necessary for legal or security purposes
to review Site and product usage and operations
to address problems with the Site, improve our business or our products and services.
to protect the security or integrity of the Site and our business.
We do not retain your personal information longer than necessary to provide you with the services you have requested.
We do retain aggregated, non-personally identifiable information for some of the purposes described above.
We do not sell any of your personal or identifiable information to any third party.
Security
We have implemented technical, administrative and physical security measures designed to secure your information. We utilize a third party provider to store and process your personal information, and that provider has also implemented robust physical, electronic, contractual and managerial steps to safeguard and secure your personal information. This includes transmission of data via HTTPS, encrypting data before it is stored and restrictions on access to the data. The Internet, however, is not perfectly secure and we are not responsible for security breaches not reasonably within its control
